Sarah Comerford Counselling in Berkshire

Before counselling

  • How do I know if counselling is right for me?

The best way is to try and see, perhaps meet with a few different counsellors and see if you feel safe and able to talk. Most counsellors offer a free initial call to talk through some of your concerns.

  • Do I need to have a specific problem?

No, everyone is different, you might start out with something specific you want to work on, but equally you may not feel sure what's wrong or how to even explain what you're feeling. That's understandable and part of the work we can do.

  • What happens in the first session?

We will meet and start to talk about what you have been experiencing, perhaps what has broughht you to counselling, and you can find out more about me and how we might work together.

  • How long are sessions?

50 minutes

  • How often will we meet?

That is something we decide together. When we first start working together, it may be that we will initially meet weekly. Find out more details here.

Working together

  • How many sessions will I need?

Everyone is different, some people have 4, 6, 20, 40 or more. You decide when it feels enough.

  • Is everything confidential?

Yes, there are certain exceptions to this, which we will talk about when we first meet. Find out more about confidentiality here.

  • What if I don't know what to talk about?

That's completely normal, some sessions you may know exactly whay you want to bring, others you may not. Those sessions are often the ones where things come up that can be really beneficial.

  • Can I stop whenever I want?

Yes, you decide when you want to end the sessions.
